Wendy Cartmell
Author of the Sgt Major Crane Novels
Steps to Heaven & 40 Days 40 Nights
No Mercy - a collection of short stories

The title story of this small collection of short stories 'No Mercy', is an
introduction to Wendy Cartmell's detective Sgt Major Crane of the Special
Investigations Branch in the British Army. After writing this story she went on
to pen the full length novels Steps to Heaven and 40 Days 40 Nights.
There are four mystery stories, all with a twist in the tail, and one humorous
autobiographical piece,
"Each story was unique and enjoyable; there was certainly
a `twist in the tale' as promised by the author. The first story certainly
introduced `Sgt Major Crane' in all his glory and a character that you would like to meet but on good terms... his terms!" J2Press
"Cartmell Rocks! This collection of short stories showcases Wendy Cartmell's fresh style and engaging prose. She presents a variety of situations of people caught in intriguing circumstances. The author delivers a twist to many of her stories in this collection. My test of any writer is whether or not I can see the character in my mind's eye and Wendy Cartmell delivers. Highly recommended. Ed Benjamin Author"

Accidents, thefts, murders, terrorist plots....they all plague Sgt Major Crane
who is not happy with his babysitting job of looking after Team GB as they
prepare for the Olympic Games and Paralympics on Aldershot Garrison. He likens it to 40 Days and 40 Nights in a personal wilderness before he can get back to his real job of investigating; but it turns into 40 Days and 40 Nights of chaos. Aldershot is besieged by elderly Gurkhas, Crane's pregnant wife has health problems and the Intelligence Corp keep sticking their oar in. Will Crane be able to keep the athletes safe or will the terrorists win?
"True Army Life - A good story line by someone who understands what life in the Army is about, mixed in with a good thriller. Also the truth about the shabby way the country has treated the Ghurkas was woven into the plot so skillfully. Enjoyed every page from start to finish keeping me enthralled to the last word". ex Rifleman
